My grandson Ethan helped by bringing water to us and other things. Here he is helping me with the vibrating. Later he put his hand print into the concrete and wrote his name. Mike Roe

We hired a company to pump the concrete to the dam. The concrete trucks would back up to their truck and dump the mix in. They would then pump it out to the dam in a six inch hose. Our forms were made out of plywood and 2 X 4s and the guys doing the [...]

After finishing the forms we posed for a photo. On the left is Dave Gahimer, then Lyndon Johnson and me. Lyndon was a big help. Notice the bracing. Most of the bracing is anchored into the bedrock. Sometimes we couldn’t find the bedrock so we used Daves tractor to put large bolders at the end [...]

Here we are starting the wood forms for the concrete. Karen assembled the 4 X 8 forms in the barn and then we hauled them down to the dam using Dave’s tractor. We used a concrete saw to cut a smooth channel in the bedrock and then chipped out the rock with large crowbars. The [...]

After the dam was cleaned we removed as much water from the area as possible. Then we started putting up the re-bar and wire. This was anchored into the old dam. Dave Gahimer is helping. He was a big, big help with the whole project. Mike Roe
