The sawmills are going to start cutting the trees as soon as the ground freezes. So, I thought we could look at some photos of an event that was put on to raise money for Rebuilding the Bridgeton Covered Bridge. The first photo is a member of the Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association. If you’ve never seen this, you have to come and check it out this year.<\/p>\n

The second photo is ….. OH ….. That is me with my new grandson, Jacob Allen Roe. He was born about 2 weeks early because he wanted to surprise me on my birthday! I think he will like horses that go fast.<\/p>\n

The third photo is Horace Hockey ridding past the old mill. He (Bret Erwood) came up with the idea of an Old West Fest and spent a lot of time calling his friends and anyone else he could think of to make it a success. Some other folks jumped in and helped with the planning and calling.<\/p>\n

We had Spinner and Weavers, Single Action Shooters Society, Horse Tricks, Mustang Demo (No – not the car), a Chuckwagon, Singing Cowboy, Native American Educational Activities, A Parade, Costume Contest for the Kids, Raffle Drawing, Gold Panning Demos, A Covered Wagon, A Stage Coach, Bull Whip Demos and …. probably some stuff I forgot.This years Old West Fest is scheduled for June 3 – 4. We already have more folks that want to participate so it looks like this years fest will be even bigger and better than last years.<\/p>\n

The weekend brought in a little over $2000.00 for the bridge. Thanks to everyone that participated.<\/p>\n
