Pingelton has delivered the last of the logs. We started sawing again on Thur. June 8 A lot has happened since I last posted something on this blog.<\/p>\n

23 students from Wabash College came to Bridgeton on June 1st and worked on the bridge project. They did a lot of stuff we have been putting off. Like restacking hundreds of siding boards. They also picked up all the boards and bark that was on the ground. It was getting harder to mow and the tall grass made it hard to find things. Now that they cleaned up the area we can mow once again. Some of the students finished the painting on the ends of the timbers. At the end of the day they all pitched in and straightened out the big stack of sticks behind Terry Rooksberry’s Wood Mizer. Dick Brown was able to pick up the sticks and move them to the trash pile. The students of Wabash College were a big help. They plan to come back and help in August.<\/p>\n

Over the weekend we had the Pancake Breakfast for the new Covered Bridge on Sat. June 3. We make the pancake mix in the mill and volunteers flip them. The Breakfast raised around $1500. I think. The Old West Fest was this weekend and the town was full of cowboys helping raise money for the new bridge. It was a great weekend. We also had the annual Art and Wine Fest on Sat.<\/p>\n

Today, Thur June 8 we started sawing again. Don Price started early and then Dan Collom started sawing around noon. Terry should be here tomorrow and we hope to get a lot done this week.<\/p>\n

Apex Masonry started working on the abutments on Monday. They pulled stones out of the old Red Bridge abutments and brought them to Bridgeton. (The Red Bridge was about 5 miles downstream from Bridgeton and burned in 1976 – it was never rebuilt) They started working on the abutments in Bridgeton today – Thur.<\/p>\n

So, there is a lot going on in Bridgeton. It is going to be a wonderful summer.<\/p>\n
