This is a photo of the upstream side of the dam. By leaving the gates open I have washed out lots of dirt. This was completely full of dirt last year. You can see the old wood dam inside the concrete. And a surprise to me was finding some of the original siding boards still on the dam. They are near the water at the bottom. These siding boards are what directed the water up and over the dam before the concrete was added in 1913 – 16.
The purpose of this is to get the water to the south side of the creek so the north side will dry up and I can finish the dam.
